Creativity Coaching

Feeling stuck in your creative life?

  • Silenced by outside criticism or negative self-talk
  • Sitting with writer’s block
  • Struggling to find artistic energy in the midst of family life
  • Feeling depressed after a creative setback
  • Uninspired in your choice of subject or material
  • Self-sabotaging at a crucial point in the process

Creativity coaching can help!

Are you tired of going it alone?

People who don’t create are often bewildered by us. Our work has been labeled as everything from cute hobby to vanity project to even selfish obsession.

Modern culture isn’t particularly supportive of the creative life. And our work calls us to deep and sometimes dark places. It can be all too easy to let the excuses overpower the reason we started making art in the first place.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone come alongside you on that path?

You could stop feeling guilty about being stuck and get busy making your art.

Are you ready to make big changes in your creative life?

Book your free clarity call to see if we are a good fit for creativity coaching.

Does this sound like you?

You are a:

  • Beginning writer
  • Emerging writer
  • Someone dreaming of daring to write (you can do it!)
  • Parent or caregiver who wants support with your creative work
  • Teller of true stories (on the page, in a podcast, or in front of a live audience)

Coaching can support you to:

  • Become more productive
  • Find deeper meaning in your artistic life
  • Make progress on your goals
  • Release procrastination and perfectionism
  • Finish your work
  • Begin to share it with the world

Creativity coaching with Joy was an unexpected highlight of last fall. In recent years much of the art I am involved in creating is that of my children and students. Joy helped me re-focus on my own art while balancing being a working parent. She is positive, empathic, encouraging, and helpful. I highly recommend taking Joy on as a creativity coach!

How you’ll feel in the process

You can feel:

  • More productive
  • More motivated
  • More inspired
  • More ease in your process
  • More delight and a greater sense of meaning in your work

… If you commit to doing the work

When I was in driver’s ed, my instructor’s motto was an acronym that sounded like “yoga whippy.”

You Get Out What You Put In.

Clunky, for sure, but I’ve never forgotten it. As with driving, the outcomes of coaching depend entirely on what you’re able and willing to invest in the process.

Powerful shifts in mindset and habit are possible through coaching if you are ready to open up to new ideas and engage with the work.

Is creativity coaching right for you?

This is for you if:

  • You’re ready for a change
  • You want to commit to your creative success
  • You’re open to trying something new
  • You’re interested in psychology, spirituality, or inner work
  • You have a vision for a big project, but you’ve gotten as far as you can on your own
  • You’re comfortable using Zoom
  • You’re ready to take control of your artistic life
  • You’d love to create more consistently
  • You dream of rediscovering the love of art you had as a kid

This is not for you at the moment if:

  • You’re fine with your creative routine as it is
  • You’re not interested in the psychoemotional side of creativity
  • You’re looking for concrete help with getting published
  • You want advice on the craft of storytelling (check out my big-picture editing page)
  • You need help with grammar and punctuation (check out my fine-detail editing page)
  • You’re not sure you have the time

Yes! Help me get creating!

A coaching programme with Joy gave me new perspectives on my creative projects. We exchanged on time management, setting priorities, writing tools and more. I especially enjoyed her positive approach and that she searched for concrete ideas to fit my situation.
